Ram has announced the redevelopment of commercial property on the northwest corner of Janmar Road and Scenic Highway in the heart of Snellville to house new locations for Academy Sports, Olive Garden and A & J Jewelers.
Ram acquired 6.5 acres of the development site from Home Depot in an eleven-store Home Depot Landscape Supply concept acquisition in 2008, which included five locations in greater Atlanta. Ram subsequently acquired the adjacent former Lincoln-Mercury dealership from Group 1, unifying the property into an 11-acre commercial parcel. Eight acres were sold to Academy Sports to construct one of their first stores in the Metropolitan Atlanta area. Academy Sports, Olive Garden and A & J Jewelers will construct their own buildings. Ram will be responsible for completing all site work.
Demolition of existing structures will commence immediately. A summer 2011 opening is planned for Academy Sports. Olive Garden and A & J Jewelers are scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2011.
“We did not anticipate a complete redevelopment of the site,” said Ken Baye, Senior VP of Development for Ram. “We are heartened to have been able to structure a deal like this, thanks to the forward-thinking, growth mode of Academy Sports. This is one more sign that economic recovery is beginning in the Southeast.”
